Pastel on prepared Masonite
I created a textured surface for this painting by treating a masonite board with gesso, followed by a coat of Art Spectrum's fine tooth Colourfix Primer. The texture allows the rubbed in underpainting to sparkle through subsequent applications of pastel. I also like the soft edges achieved with this method.
